What is agricultural biomethanation?
A renewable source of energy, biomethanation is a organic residues treatment process that allows agricultural producers to diversify their sources of income by producing biogas on the farm.
Input collection
Slurry, manure, liquid manure and crop residues are transported to the biomethanation center.
Anaerobic digestion process
Contained to the bioreactor, oxygen-free fermentation of organic residues produces digestate and biogas.
Digestate recovery
Biogas valorization and purification
Biogas is processed to remove impurities so that it has the same properties as renewable natural gas (RNG).
Piped gas injection or conveyance

Agricultural biomethanation in action
How does one start a biomethanation project?
Bring together the following elements:
- Approximately 1 000 head of livestock (producing between 35 000 and 40 000 metric tons of manure or slurry)
- A small group of farmers — from 2 to 6 producers
- The desire – shared by us! – to develop eco-responsible practices
